Kitzbühel | Kirchberg ski area in Tirol – a picture-perfect winter adventure

A fantastic skiing experience at the World’s Best Ski Resort., the world’s largest test portal for ski resorts, named our Kitzbühel|Kirchberg ski region in Tirol the Best Ski Resort in the World in 2017, after having conferred this title upon the ski area in 2013, 2014, 2015 amd 2016.

In addition, World Ski Awards (the Oscars of the skiing community) chose Kitzbühel as the World’s Best Ski Resort – and KitzSki as the World’s Best Ski Resort Company.

Top: SkiArea Test rated KitzSki as the overall test winner in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018

But why does the Kitzbühel|Kirchberg ski resort hold such a fascination for winter sports enthusiasts? Firstly, one of the main reasons is likely the extraordinary beauty of our surroundings. Secondly, we offer 230 kilometres of slopes and 41 kilometres of marked ski routes in all degrees of difficulty, action-packed snowboard fun parks, natural toboggan runs, plus hundreds of kilometres of cross-country ski trails and winter hiking trails. The more than 60 rustic, cosy ski huts invite you to take a break and sample some delicious food. The top attraction is probably the legendary Hahnenkamm race with the world-famous “Streif”.

As if all that weren’t enough, we also have the best pistes anywhere from October to the beginning of May, which translates into as many as 200 days of unparalleled skiing pleasure and never-ending excitement. Highly professional ski and snowboard instructors are on hand to give help and advice to beginners and those getting back into skiing. The Kitzbüheler Horn, Hahnenkamm, Fleckalm and Pass Thurn all feature perfectly groomed pistes, plenty of variety and, of course, cosy and rustic ski huts where you can stop in for refreshments and relaxation.

The Kitzbühel|Kirchberg ski area in Tirol boasts 230 kilometres of perfectly prepared and marked pistes, including 15 valley runs, for beginners, regular holiday skiers and advanced winter sports enthusiasts. With our 57 lifts, we are also Austria’s largest cable car company. The cable cars offer the highest levels of comfort, including heated seats. They are pleasant, modern and stress-free. We also have more than 1,000 snowmaking machines in operation. With 10 lakes with a total capacity of approx. 725,000m³, the number of reservoirs is also impressive.

Furthermore, we are one of the first non-glacier ski resorts to open every winter and can be relied upon to welcome skiers and snowboarders from October. During the 2016/2017 season, we were open for action on 199 days, which is a new record!
